Treating Dissociative Identity Disorder from an
Ego State Therapy Approach

Our D.I.D. clients taught us a lot about multiplicity and many of us first learned about EST for a client with D.I.D. This approach is a must-know when working with D.I.D. and those with extremely conflicted systems. It is full of EST applications and language that 'safely' addresses the multiplicity of the system.

*This course is ESTNA approved for 7 hours of advanced credit, and ASCH credit is pending.

*The course will be recorded and available to registered participants for a limited time.

Course Description

This full-day course assumes you have basic knowledge about D.I.D, but will provide a brief review of important characteristics to note and updates in the field along with a review of why ego state therapy is such a preferred approach for this population, including essential core principles to guide your work with complex trauma and dissociative disorders.

Therapeutic applications rooted in EST theory across the phases of trauma treatment will be addressed including applications that target specific symptoms common to D.I.D, such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, intrusive thoughts/voices, sleep struggles,  negative beliefs, developmental repair, and emotional regulation.

Strategies for promoting the 4-C's will be addressed including promoting cooperation and collaboration among parts.

Lemke’s 4-C ego state therapy model for integrated functioning and her applications of ‘playing with the space’ will not only provide strategies for accessing resources and skills, but more importantly how to stay connected to those skills/resources when the client needs them.

All applications are addressed through an EST approach that incorporates advances in dissociation, neuropsychology, and attachment.

*Knowledge and training in clinical hypnosis is useful but not necessary to benefit from this exceptional course.
